Beaver Mountain 'the beave' Site Detail

Beaver Mountain rises to almost 10,000 ft. This is a hike up site for Paragliders and Hangliders. It is one of the best bench-up sites in the area. If the wind is strong from the west the 600' hike puts you in position to bench up over 3000' to the top of Beaver Mountain. This is rugged terrain and not a good place to get blown back; nothing but road less wilderness and deep ravines behind the mountain. Sunset views from beaver have been featured in Paragliding magazine.

Directions:

Drive south out of Jackson on highway 89. At Hoback Junctions (11 miles) turn left.
After passing Camp Creek in, on the left, there will be a statue of a bull moose on the right. Turn right here. After crossing the Hoback River and making a left you will make a 90 degree turn to the right. You are now parelling the Beaver Mountain and can see the launch. There are wind socks just down hill from the launch site as well as on the ridge line above.
Cross the cattle gaurd and park on the left. The ascent trail crosses the field, passes thru a gate (please close after passing thru) and then weaves thru the trees up to launch.
Drive time from Jackson: 20 min
Hike time: 30 min.
