Snow King Mountain Resort

Snow King is the “town hill” that towers over downtown Jackson, WY with stunning views of the Tetons to the north. This site works best in N/NW winds in the afternoon. A 15 min. chair lift ride gets you to within 100 yards of launch, a narrow slot cut into the heavily forested summit. This is a P4 site due both to the treed launch and a tricky LZ where you can expect to find rotor in the afternoon (in addition to a creek and power lines). Please contact a club officer to get a site intro at Snow King.

Snow King requires current USHPA and JHFFC membership. A day pass to get you up the Summit Chair currently runs $20. On a good evening, it is possible to fly northeast and land at Curtis Canyon from Snow King. Be aware of radio towers on the east end of the ridge that runs along the summit, as well as the hazards at the Karns Meadow LZ (power lines, creek, and rotor). It’s hard to beat an evening soaring above the King!
